MIDTOWN-Mayor Michael Bloomberg paid a Christmas morning visits to hospitality workers in Times Square the Hotel Sunday, celebrating their holiday service while touting the city’s booming tourism industry.
“The major cities changes all the time,” dressed festively-Bloomberg told reporters at the ceremony at the Marriott Renaissance Times Square New York. “The tax base, changes in the industry come and go. What cities have to do is find new industries to keep people employed. Tourism is one of those industries. “
Make New York City into a magnet for tourists dollars have been a cornerstone of Bloomberg’s tenure. On Tuesday, he welcomed the symbolic “50 million visitors”, feting newlyweds Craig Johnson and Lucy Foulger United Kingdom in Times Square.
The Mayor thanked the hotel workers to help to welcome the crowd of visitors who pass through the city this year, including hundreds of already around Christmas morning Times Square.
